Understanding Postpartum Depression
Definition
Postpartum depression is a medical condition that can develop in the weeks or months after childbirth. It is different from the ‘baby blues,’ which usually pass within two weeks. Postpartum depression is longer-lasting, more severe, and treatable.
Up to 1 in 7 new mothers experience postpartum depression. It is not a failure of motherhood, and it is not your fault.
